I was dreading looking out of the window this morning, as I expected thick ice at worst and snow at best. But we have just got a hint of frost and some black ice along the side roads. However, the temperature readings said Minus 5. It really didn't feel like it at all, which I guess is down to the fact that the air is calm.
Last night's dreadfully cold wind had all but gone, leaving this morning calm and crisp with the darkest sky and brightest stars. My favourite conditions.
So armed with "The News Quiz", I decided on a mixed route of inland roads and coastal sea paths. And the walk was going to be that more enjoyable as it's Friday (hooray).
I didn't see Mr Early on his bike, but I did see our newspaper delivery man, David, who stopped and asked me whether I was doing some early Christmas shopping. "I wish", I replied. Too right. I haven't bought one single present yet. Clock ticking.
At this time of year any exercise thoughts drift off to a mental shopping list, where I'm hoping I don't forget a mandatory item (like the turkey) and what on earth I'm going to buy Mr S for Christmas, who has completely sorted out all his Christmas shopping.
I attempted to stop all such thoughts and concentrated instead on the wonderful scenery. Heavens. Day 72 and I'm still loving it to bits.
