I hadn't bothered to look outside whilst getting ready this morning convinced it would be like last night. Freezing.
Wrong. It was considerably warmer, although a biting northerly wind was still blowing. I chose the sea cliffs route so that I could get a good view of the meteors. But there were light clouds when I started out, which was really disappointing.
My legs felt as though they wanted a bit of a run this morning, so I decided to run rather than walk, discarding my scarf and gloves into thankfully large pockets in my gillet.
As I reached the 3k halfway mark, I turned around to head back eastwards and look up. Wow. A sky full of bright, bright stars and some shooting stars too. They were so quick, you had to look really carefully, but they were there. Almost like particles of dust you see in front of a spotlight...I gather there will be more this evening when the meteor shower hits its peak. Saturn was out there, battling for attention.
Fantastic. As I've just written on my FB status....it doesn't get better than this.
