I wasn't sure whether I wanted to get out there this morning, knowing it would be minus 5 Deg with yesterday's snow converting into a giant ice rink, but curiosity got the better of me, so I dragged myself out of bed at just gone 5am.
Mr S wouldn't hear of me going it alone in case I fell, so he came along with Foggy.,
Getting ready to go out felt like that episode from Friends, where Joey wears all of Chandler's clothes. I had two pairs of trousers, two pairs of socks and my hiking boots, 4 tops, including a HUGE fleece (that belongs to Mr S) and a hat. I stupidly forgot my gloves.
Stepping out, I was aware of just how cold -5 Deg feels like. My eyes started watering immediately and I also realised I had left my tissues at home too. So disorganised!
There's a clear sky, but a light mist which will become thicker later this morning. Saturn was shining brightly over the sea and we decided it was definitely safer to walk in the middle of the road, rather than stick to the pavements, which were thick with snow, but also extremely icy. The main roads seemed ok - the snow that's still there has a layer of frost on it, so its crunchy and you can get a grip. But any side road that has even a tiny incline is shiny white and treacherous. Even Foggy slipped a couple of times.
We couldn't continue with our usual route as the ice was just too dangerous, so we turned around and came back. Foggy was loving it. He was picking up the scent of several foxes and being a terrier, he was in his element.
We managed 57 minutes this morning, so hope you'll forgive those 3 minutes..
The forecast for Sunday is 8 Deg. Crikey. That seems quite tropical.
