Day 103 - 31 January 2011

Because we had gone to bed at 9.30 last night, I was wide awake before the alarm went off at 5am.

Today, I was listening to Blackadder IV and could visualise every part of the episodes, which made it even more funnier.

It's minus 3 out there this morning. The forecast says that the warmest it's going to get today is plus 2. I was wrapped up and warm - even had to take my gloves off half way round. It wasn't windy at all and this makes a huge difference to the comfort levels whilst walking.

I kept wondering whether I had started out late this morning....all my usual '5am friends' seemed to be that bit further on than usual. So in case my HRM watch was wrong, I picked up the pace in case I was late.

There's a new kid on the block. I've been seeing him almost every morning. He's a runner who I pass usually along the same bit of road (although this morning, he made me jump as I wasn't expecting to see him so early on). Mr Navy I shall call him. He's always got the same navy coloured top, hat and jogging bottoms on. Runners should wear Hi Viz if they're running on the road!

Along the longest part of the road, all the house owners had got their dustbins out to be collected. And I noticed that every single wheelie bin had been turned outwards, so that the handles faced the road. I got to wonder whether every household was just considerate towards the dustmen so they didn't have the turn the bins around, or had a leaflet been posted asking everyone to make sure their bins were facing towards the road? It just struck me as odd. When I was growing up, our dustmen used to walk round to the back of our house, open the dustbin cupboard and then return it - that wouldn't happen these days!

It was still cloudy, although all the cars had frost on them. So no stars. I was hoping for a spectacular sky this morning, given that we had brilliant sunshine all day long yesterday. And the sea was very quiet too. I've just checked on my surfing website (part of which is copied below) and it concurs that there's no swell today. But there were lots of fishing boats out there this morning. I could see for miles, as the air was so clear and still.

Wonderful.
