Day 54 - 10 November 2010

I was thankful that it was dry this morning, but it was a perishingly cold 2 Deg. So I wore a scarf for added warmth.

There seemed to be more people about this morning, although I did leave roughly 15 minutes later than usual, as I was experimenting with a weighted rucksack. I thought I'd try just an extra 6lbs to see how that felt before trying my original plan of 11lbs. So I added all our wrist weights, but then found my HRM was stubbornly refusing to switch on. ARGHHH. Anyway, it finally decided to find my heartbeat (phew! I *am* alive!) and off I went with more podcasts of Radio 4's "The Now Show" with Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis for company.

With a beautiful black sky with thousands of bright stars above, I headed out north west, so that I could capture the east sky on my return. And I'm so glad I did.

WOW. This morning was the first clear sky since the clocks went back and being a little later than usual meant that I was greeted with dawn rising. The eastern sky had turned an amazing dark turquoise with a single bright light shining above the sea. It obviously wasn't the North Star, so I got out my iPhone and checked for planets. It was Saturn. How lovely. At the moment, I can see warm, red Jupiter during my evening dog walks and now the morning is lit up with bright, white Saturn.

I was quite sad to be getting nearer to home.

Oh - and the 6lb weights? Well....my knee certainly complained. But they made s0d all difference to my calories. But I think it was because I was walking slower as my knee was hurting!
