5 mile brisk walk
Well, it's Monday. Unbelievable isn't it? Where DID that weekend go?
After yesterday's two hour session on the cross trainer, I hadn't expected my knee to hurt quite so much...but it was shouting at me, "Don't walk! Don't walk!". It was tempting to listen to it. But I strapped on a heavier knee support to shut it up and got out of bed.
It was cold again this morning - it was zero degrees C with a 2mph NNW wind so it was back to the scarf, gloves and body warmer - items of clothing that I though I could ditch now that it was mid-March. Boo.
With podcasts of The Now Show in my ears I headed out towards the cliff top and practically bumped into Dave, our 74 year old paperboy who was on his way to open the shop up. Gave me such a fright, as I don't usually see him for at least another 20 minutes. He told me that he couldn't sleep much last night as Todd kept waking him up throughout the night. Todd's one of his two dogs.
The sea was wonderful - it was calm out to sea, but the waves were crashing onto the beach with a very satisfying sound. I could also see a few fishing boats out there too. Their white lights twinkling in the darkness. I was wondering what their catch would be today. They supply all the restaurants and hotels in Bournemouth and Poole and I always wonder at why there aren't more fishing boats out there...perhaps I'll see more as the weather warms up.
I was very pleased to see the solar bins blinking a calm green again. Phew. I headed on towards the long road which is where I usually see Mr Early. He didn't show up again. I'm hoping he's on holiday. I wonder if he's gone on a cycling holiday? Somehow I can't picture him lying on a hot beach somewhere....
I was about half way along the road and Mr Rude Navy passed by. Still ignoring me and taking a wide berth around me. How rude!! He really is the exception around here. Everyone is very friendly and whenever I'm out at a more normal time of day, everyone stops to say hello or at least smiles as they walk past. If I see Mr Rude Navy tomorrow, I think I'll stick my leg out and trip him up.
I headed back eastwards for the last 20 minutes to watch the lightest morning yet....the sun was almost coming up, although the official sunrise wouldn't be until 06.21am. It won't be long before it's rising at 6am and I'll be able to get some amazing views at the end of my hour's walk. Very exciting! To be honest, I just want the weather to be a bit warmer so I don't have to wear quite so many clothes....
Have a good day everyone. 4 more days until the weekend
