Day 135 - 09 March 2011

Wednesday
4 miles walking 1 mile running

The alarm went off at 04.45 and I got up, but made the huge mistake of looking back at my pillows. My soft, still-warm, cosy pillows. And I got quickly back to into bed again. zzzzzz 05.00 and I was feeling guilty...possibly because Ian was already up and out running. So I braved it and got up.

So glad I did. I know that I always feel better for getting out there. It's just sometimes, it's hard. It's certainly not automatic - even after 135 days of it.

Popping in The Sound of Mitchell & Webb to my iPhone, I stepped outside. It was ever so slightly damp on the ground, but a comfortable 6 degrees with a WSW wind blowing 14mph gusts. Not too bad.

As I walked eastwards with the sea to my right, I was aware of tiny drops of water on my face...perhaps it was dew, I thought. Couldn't be rain. We had checked the forecast last night - no mention of rain. I spotted a fox running towards the beach, with the raggiest tail I've ever seen, poor thing.

I turned onto the long road and waited to see Mr Early. It was now a definite drizzle. Bah. And where WAS Mr Early? My friendly police car drove past. They still don't wave yet, but its comforting to see it drive past almost every morning.

Mr Early wasn't to be seen. I'm quite worried. It's the first time ever.

I was heading back facing west and had broken into a run now. It was very cloudy so daybreak wasn't quite as amazing as it has been lately. I still had another 15 minutes to go (I'm getting quicker, so my usual route is being done with time to spare), so I ran down to the beach, took a quick (but dark and hazy) photo.

Can you make out the drizzle?!

and then headed towards "Evil Path" - the dreaded pathway that leads back up to the cliff again. I jogged slowly up without stopping and was very pleased to get to the top. Another few minutes' running and I was home.
