Day 205 - 19 June 2011

Sunday
7.5 mile run

A good friend of ours, Julia, came over to have a training session with us.  Julia is training to do the New Forest 10 Mile event on 10 July and wanted to run 7 miles today.

The weather was warm and the wind had definitely improved from yesterday and we set off at about 9am.  To keep it interesting, we ran along the cliff tops, then headed towards central Bournemouth before dropping down to Bournemouth Pier and heading back towards home, but running along the prom.

We hadn't realised that today was the Race For Life along the prom for both 5k and 10k runners, but thankfully we were running in the opposite direction, so didn't get too caught up.

The weather started to close in slightly on our return, which was a welcome relief, as I really dislike running in warm sunshine and the hip pain that was coming through yesterday decided to make an unwelcome return on the final couple of miles.

But we headed on and were as pleased as Punch to see Julia achieve a PB which was tremendous going.  She runs at a cracking pace and having achieved today's distance and pace we have no doubts about her ability to get in a really good run for the NF10.  And the beauty of it is - Julia still has another 4 weeks left to get some more training sessions, so she will be in absolute peak condition by the time she competes.

What a lovely start to the day :-)
